My 'Younger Wife'

by Karl
(Oneonta, NY)

This is a fairly recent photo of my wife. She was in her early 40s when it was taken.

Hello, I am now a very active and healthy 50 y/o man. My wife and I have been married for 20 years this coming April. She is 4 years younger than me.

When we met, I was a mature 30 years old, with years of education and work experience behind me, my wife was a recent graduate (medical school) and, despite her years of rigorous education, had a fun, adventurous, playful personality that made her seem even younger.

Over the past 20 years, she and I have raised 3 children to high school age, paid off a rather large house and have had a wonderful life together.

I retired from my job in NYC after 20 years at age 46 (I have since gone back to a similar job, but in a beautiful rural area.)

I have always thought of my wife as a 'younger woman.' I realize that the age difference is within a fairly normal range statistically, but who is going by statistics?

Whenever I am with her, she seems young and beautiful to me, and the depth of my appreciation for her equals the height of love that I hold in my heart.

To make things even better, she stays extremely active, and has tried many forms of exercise and other physical hobbies and sports over the years (such as triathlon). She was even able to take time off from her medical practice to travel as a professional belly dancer. That explains the photo.

I admit that the private, secret pleasure I get out of a 4 year age difference is not the foundation of our relationship, but it adds to the overall excitement I have felt for my 'younger' wife for the past 20 years.
